Poetry Projects

1. Literary Terms Booklet

Your assignment is to create a booklet of literary terms. You should include all the underlined terms on your green “Literary Terms: Poetry” sheet, as well as any others I give you along the way. On each page of your booklet you need the following:

· The literary term. Include any sub-terms.

· An example of the literary term (taken from a published or online poem OR an example you write yourself).

o At least 5 of your examples should be from another author.

o Make your examples creative—no “her eyes were as blue as the sea” similes, e.g.

· If you take the example from another source, you must credit it—just title and author.

· Color/design/an illustration—something to make it visually appealing.

You need to bind it in some way—staples, spiral binding, thread, etc—be creative.

2. Poetry Project

Ten original poems, edited and neatly typed, of varying styles. One needs a full-page, colored illustration.

One must be a performance piece that you present at Poetry Night

Five poems by outside authors that you have enjoyed reading. THREE of these need an accompanying explanation of their theme and tone (see purple sheet.)
